Butterflies and bees are also big fans of the beautiful flowers. The flowers bloom in the summer. The compact habit makes this a perfect clematis to grow in a pot or small space. The plant grows around other branches. We tie up the stems against a fence. We prune the plant in the early spring after the last frost of the season. Plant the perennial Clematis somewhere partially shaded. Keep the soil constantly moist. Water it more during dry periods.
