Prunus ‘Weeping Yoshino’ Tree – Weeping Flowering Cherry
Prunus ‘Weeping Yoshino’ is a graceful, weeping form of the famous Yoshino cherry, celebrated for its long, arching branches that cascade elegantly. In early spring, the branches are smothered with pale pink to white blossoms that create a soft cloud-like effect. Lightly fragrant flowers are followed by fresh green foliage, turning golden yellow in autumn. Its elegant form and year-round appeal make it a superb specimen tree for smaller gardens.
Season: Pale pink-white blossom in early spring; green summer foliage; golden autumn colour; deciduous in winter
Care: Best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Minimal pruning needed, only to maintain shape after flowering. Protect from late frosts in colder sites.
Unique Selling Points: Graceful weeping form, prolific spring blossom, lightly fragrant flowers, compact size for small gardens.
History: Derived from the Yoshino cherry (Prunus × yedoensis), one of Japan’s most iconic flowering cherries.
Mature Size (after 10 years): Approx. 3–4 m height × 3 m spread
