Prunus ‘Shirotae’ Tree – Mount Fuji Cherry
Prunus ‘Shirotae’, commonly known as the Mount Fuji Cherry, is a graceful ornamental tree admired for its profuse spring blossom. In April, the tree is smothered with fragrant, semi-double, pure white flowers that hang in clusters along spreading branches. The blossom is beautifully complemented by bronze-tinged young foliage, which matures to green in summer before turning warm orange and yellow in autumn. Its broad, spreading habit makes it an ideal choice for use as a specimen tree in lawns or larger gardens.
Season: Pure white fragrant blossom in spring; green foliage in summer; orange-yellow autumn colours; deciduous in winter
Care: Plant in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Hardy and easy to maintain with minimal pruning required.
Unique Selling Points: Profuse clusters of pure white flowers, spreading habit, fragrant blossom, beautiful autumn colour, excellent specimen tree.
History: A traditional Japanese cherry cultivar named after the iconic Mount Fuji, widely planted for its striking spring display.
