Prunus ‘Kursar’ Tree – Early Flowering Cherry
Prunus ‘Kursar’ is an early-flowering cherry tree that bursts into bloom in March with masses of rich carmine-pink, single flowers, creating one of the first colourful highlights of spring. Its compact, rounded habit makes it perfect for smaller gardens and urban spaces. The bronze-tinged young leaves emerge alongside the flowers and mature to a fresh green in summer before turning orange-red in autumn. This hardy and ornamental tree provides three full seasons of interest.
Season: Carmine-pink blossom in early spring; green foliage in summer; orange-red autumn colours; deciduous in winter
Care: Best planted in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Hardy and low maintenance, requiring little pruning other than removing dead or crossing branches.
Unique Selling Points: Early and abundant pink blossom, compact form ideal for small gardens, stunning autumn foliage, long season of interest.
History: A Japanese cherry introduced to the UK for its exceptionally early flowering and ornamental value.
Mature Size (after 10 years): Approx. 3–4 m height × 3–4 m spread
