Prunus ‘Beni-yutaka’ Tree – Abundant Pink-Flowering Cherry
Prunus ‘Beni-yutaka’ is a vigorous, spreading ornamental cherry tree admired for its heavy spring blossom. In April, branches are laden with semi-double, soft pink flowers, which create a striking contrast against the fresh green foliage. As the season progresses, the leaves mature to deep green before turning rich shades of orange and red in autumn. Its spreading habit and profusion of blossom make it a superb choice as a specimen tree for larger gardens.
Season: Soft pink blossom in spring; deep green summer foliage; orange-red autumn tones; deciduous in winter
Care: Plant in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Best in a sheltered spot away from cold winds. Minimal pruning needed except to maintain shape.
Unique Selling Points: Heavy spring flowering, spreading habit, strong autumn colour, excellent specimen tree.
History: A Japanese ornamental cherry cultivar widely planted for its showy spring display.
Mature Size (after 10 years): Approx. 5–6 m height × 5 m spread
