Malus × moerlandsii ‘Profusion Improved’ Tree – Ornamental Crab Apple
Malus × moerlandsii ‘Profusion Improved’ is a highly decorative crab apple tree known for its striking flowers, fruit, and foliage. In spring, branches are covered in masses of deep carmine-pink buds that open into vivid purple-pink blossom, attracting pollinators in abundance. The young foliage emerges bronze-purple, maturing to green with reddish tones, and in autumn turns rich shades of orange and red. Small, dark red-purple fruits follow, persisting well into winter and providing seasonal interest as well as food for birds. Its improved form offers better disease resistance and a more compact, balanced habit compared to the original ‘Profusion’.
