Add a structural masterpiece to your garden that performs when everything else is dormant with Viburnum tinus. This classic evergreen shrub is a gardener’s favourite for its incredible winter interest and versatility. Starting in late autumn, clusters of dark pink buds appear, opening into delicate star-shaped white flowers that last through the spring. These are followed by striking, metallic blue-black berries that provide a vital food source for birds. With its dense, bushy habit and leathery dark-green leaves, it is the perfect choice for a low-maintenance hedge or a reliable backdrop in a mixed border.

Key Features:

  • Essential Winter Interest: Clusters of pink buds open to beautiful white flowers from October right through until April.

  • Year-Round Structure: A robust evergreen providing a lush, dark green backdrop even in the depths of winter.

  • Bird Friendly: Produces metallic blue-black berries in spring that are highly attractive to garden birds.

  • Extremely Versatile: Thrives in almost any position, from full sun to deep shade, and is excellent for coastal or windy sites.

  • Low Maintenance: Naturally forms a neat, rounded mound and requires very little pruning to stay in shape.

Care & Usage Instructions:
Viburnum tinus is exceptionally easy to grow. It performs well in full sun, partial shade, or even full shade, making it a "go-to" plant for tricky corners. It is not fussy about soil types, provided the ground is well-drained. While it is drought-tolerant once established, ensure new plants are watered regularly during their first growing season. To maintain a neat shape or to use as a formal hedge, prune the plant in late spring immediately after the flowering has finished.
