Care Instructions:
Lavatera Burgundy Wine performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. It is a hungry and thirsty plant during its first growing season, so water regularly until established. To maintain a neat shape and ensure a heavy crop of flowers, it is vital to prune the plant hard in mid-spring (late March or April), cutting the previous year's stems back to within 30cm of the ground. This encourages strong new growth and prevents the plant from becoming too woody or "leggy." A spring mulch of well-rotted manure or compost will help fuel its rapid summer growth.
