Experience the classic beauty of the Blue Mophead Hydrangea. This established shrub is a garden staple, known for its large, spherical flower heads that bloom in various shades of serene blue throughout the summer. Framed by lush, serrated green leaves, these vibrant blooms provide an elegant, cottage-garden feel. Whether planted in a woodland border or as a standout specimen in a large patio container, this Hydrangea adds a cooling splash of color to the heat of the summer garden.

Key Features:

  • Classic Mophead Blooms: Features large, dense clusters of flowers that provide long-lasting summer color.

  • Lush Green Foliage: Broad, healthy leaves provide a beautiful backdrop to the striking blue flowers.

  • Versatile Shrub: Perfect for garden borders, informal hedging, or as a decorative pot plant.

  • Pollinator Friendly: While primarily ornamental, they provide structure and shelter in a wildlife-friendly garden.

  • Beautiful Cut Flowers: The sturdy stems and large heads make them a favorite for fresh or dried floral arrangements.

Care Instructions:
Hydrangeas prefer a position in partial shade, as the midday sun can cause the leaves to wilt. They thrive in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Note on Colour: The blue color is dependent on soil pH; in acidic soils, the flowers will stay blue, while in alkaline (limey) soils, they may turn pink. To maintain a true blue, use an ericaceous compost and feed with a hydrangea colorant. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil consistently moist. Prune in late winter or early spring by removing the dead flower heads to just above the first pair of healthy buds.
