Care & Usage Instructions:
Aucuba ‘Variegata’ is remarkably easy to grow. It performs best in partial to full shade; avoid placing it in direct midday sun, as this can scorch the beautiful variegated leaves. It is not fussy about soil type, provided it is reasonably well-drained. Once established, it is very drought-tolerant. To maintain its shape, prune in mid-spring by cutting back stems to a leaf bud using secateurs—avoid using hedge shears, as they can tear the large, leathery leaves. Apply an annual mulch of compost in spring to encourage lush new growth.
