Bring a touch of the exotic tropics into your home with the Ornamental Pineapple plant. A member of the Bromeliad family, this striking plant is prized for its architectural rosette of arching, silver-green leaves and the fascinating miniature pineapple that sits proudly on a central stem.

Beyond its sculptural beauty, the Ananas is a unique botanical specimen. Unlike most plants that release oxygen during the day, the Pineapple plant has adapted to release oxygen at night (a process known as CAM photosynthesis). This unique trait makes it the perfect bedroom companion, helping to purify the air while you sleep.

Supplied in a 12cm pot, this is a compact, slow-growing variety designed for indoor display. While the fruit is technically edible, it is grown primarily for ornamental purposes and adds a fun, conversation-starting focal point to a bright windowsill or bedside table.

Key features:

  • Real Miniature Fruit: Features a decorative mini pineapple at the centre

  • Night-Time Oxygen: Releases oxygen at night, improving bedroom air quality

  • Architectural Foliage: Spiky, silver-green arching leaves

  • Exotic Appeal: Adds instant tropical flair to any interior

  • Pet-Safe: Non-toxic to cats and dogs

Perfect for:

  • Bedrooms: The ideal plant for a fresh sleeping environment

  • Sunny Windowsills: Thrives in bright, warm spots

  • Quirky Gifts: A unique alternative to traditional flowers

  • Tropical styling: Bathrooms and conservatories

Care instructions:

  • Light: Needs bright, indirect light to thrive. Can tolerate some direct morning sun.

  • Watering: Water the soil sparingly, but also keep a small amount of water in the central 'cup' (rosette) of the leaves, mimicking how it gathers rain in the wild.

  • Temperature: Loves warmth (min 15°C). Avoid cold draughts.

Note: The central pineapple fruit will last for several months. Once it naturally fades, the mother plant will produce 'pups' (baby plants) at the base, which can be potted on to create new plants.

At The Rose Press Garden, we love the Pineapple Plant for its novelty and function. It’s rare to find a plant that is both a fun talking point and a hard-working air purifier.
