Bring a cloud of soft, lavender-blue colour and a delightful aroma to your garden with Nepeta × faassenii. This classic cottage-garden perennial is one of the hardest-working plants for sunny borders. It features masses of tiny, nectar-rich flowers on arching stems that sit above a low mound of silvery-green, sage-like foliage. Not only is it a magnet for bees and butterflies, but the aromatic leaves also provide a lovely scent whenever you brush past. Robust, drought-tolerant, and incredibly long-flowering, it is a must-have for path edging and front-of-border displays.

Key Features:

  • Abundant Lavender-Blue Blooms: Smothers itself in soft blue flower spikes from early summer through to early autumn.

  • Aromatic Silvery Foliage: Features beautifully textured, silver-grey leaves that release a refreshing scent when crushed.

  • Pollinator Haven: An absolute favourite for bees and butterflies, providing a stable source of nectar throughout the season.

  • Drought Tolerant: Once established, it is exceptionally resilient and thrives in hot, dry positions where other plants might struggle.

  • Excellent Edging Plant: Its soft, billowing habit is perfect for spilling over the edges of pathways or softening the lines of a patio.

Care & Usage Instructions:
Nepeta Faassenii performs best in full sun but will tolerate light partial shade. It requires well-drained soil and is very happy in poor or gravelly ground; avoid planting in heavy, waterlogged clay. To encourage a second flush of flowers and maintain a neat, bushy shape, cut the plant back hard (by about half) after the first main flowering has finished in mid-summer. In early spring, tidy up the plant by removing any dead stems from the previous year. It is fully hardy and generally resistant to pests and diseases.
