Bring a bold, architectural texture to the shaded corners of your garden with the Holly Fern (Cyrtomium fortunei). This distinctive fern is quite unlike its lacy relatives, featuring leathery, matte-green fronds with pointed leaflets that closely resemble holly leaves. Its upright, slightly arching habit makes it an exceptional choice for adding structure and a touch of the exotic to woodland borders or shaded patio containers. As a hardy and reliable evergreen, it provides much-needed greenery and visual interest throughout the winter months.

Care & Usage Instructions:
Cyrtomium fortunei thrives in partial to full shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. While it is more tolerant of dry air than many other ferns, it performs best when the soil is kept consistently moist (but not waterlogged). To keep the plant looking tidy, simply cut back any tattered or winter-damaged fronds in early spring before the new, pale-green growth begins to unfurl. Adding a mulch of leaf mould or compost annually will help mimic its natural woodland habitat and keep the roots cool.
