Care Instructions:
Cornus alba Elegantissima is exceptionally easy to grow and performs well in full sun or partial shade. It is a moisture-loving shrub and is particularly useful for damp areas of the garden. Pruning for Color: To ensure the brightest red stems for the following winter, the plant should be pruned hard in late winter or early spring (March), just before the buds begin to break. This is known as "coppicing." Cut all stems back to about 5–10 cm from the ground. This encourages the growth of vigorous new stems, which carry the most vivid red color and the largest variegated leaves. Apply a generous mulch of garden compost or well-rotted manure after pruning.
