Day 9 of the advent calendar: Nigella White

Also known as 'love in a mist', this is a gorgeous flower variety for SO many reasons. A florists dream- these look amazing in flower beds, pots, bouquets, posies and the seed pods look incredible dried in arrangements.

I scattered masses of nigella into my garden as it has self seeded prolifically. It is just simply stunning and I love the white variety alongside waves of the blue nigella. If you're totally new to gardening then this is a brilliant variety to grow as it is almost impossible for it to not thrive. It likes sunny spots and looks lovely planted in great swathes!

You can start it off inside but I always find a generous 'chuck' around of seeds does the trick!

Nigella ‘Miss Jekyll White’

White masses of flowers that have the most wonderful dried seed heads. They grow to 55cm. Sow direct into open ground from March-May. Lovely for filling spaces in borders, as fresh cut flowers, and for dried flower heads
